Grades of Steel Used

MSA Motorsport UK Regulations for Roll Cages.

msa regs

The Grades of Roll cage tube we use are :

ROPT510

A Roll Over Protection Tube that has been created to serve Motorsport and other projects that may need to meet MSA regulations.

ROPT510 is a carbon-based cold drawn seamless with high strength, easy to form and great welding properties.

  • Minimum Yield Strength: 370 N/mm2
  • Minimum Tensile Strength: 510 N/mm2
  • Minimum Elongation: 25%

BS4 T45 (BS5T100 / BS5S100)

T45 Steel Tube possesses high tensile and yield properties. It’s excellent strength to weight ratio enables it to have many industrial uses from Roll Cages in Motorsport to Defence and Aerospace applications.

The advantage of such strong material means you can use a smaller thinner tube against conventional steel products but get the same or increased strength.

  • Minimum Yield Strength: 620 N/mm2
  • Minimum Tensile Strength: 700 N/mm2
  • Minimum Elongation: 15%

15CDV6

1.7734 is chromium-molybdenum-vanadium structural steel. The material has excellent weldability, toughness and good bending capabilities. It is supplied in various heat treatment conditions.

  • Minimum Yield Strength: 790 N/mm2 (1.7734.5)
  • Minimum Tensile Strength : 980 N/mm2 (1.7734.5)
  • Minimum Elongation: 11%

4130

Mainly used in SFI, other Drag racing applications or where regulations have an influence from the USA.

4130 steel is a high tensile grade of steel that contains chromium and molybdenum, and as a result, this grade is often referred to as Chromoly steel, chrome-moly, CrMo, CRMO, CR-MOLY.

  • Minimum Yield Strength: 520 N/mm2
  • Minimum Tensile Strength: 620 N/mm2
  • Minimum Elongation: 10%

25CRMO4

It is similar to the American grade 4130 in terms of chemical and mechanical properties and is mainly used in the European industry sectors.

Mainly manufactured in Metric dimensions and can be available in various heat treatment conditions.

  • Minimum Yield Strength: 390 N/mm2
  • Minimum Tensile Strength: 620 N/mm2
  • Minimum Elongation: 18%
